Sportsbook – Not even the World Series can beat the NFL

Sportsbook – Not even the World Series can beat the NFL. Get ready for more UFC fights on the board at the sportsbook. The UFC has combined with its lower-weight World Extreme Cage fighting (WEC) which means more fights for sportsbook online gamblers to wager on. Not that there was any doubt at the sportsbook but the NFL is far more popular than baseball.  Not even a World Series game can outdraw the NFL. Sunday night it was the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints getting a higher rating than Game 4 of the World Series.  Gamblers at the SBG sports book know that NFL is king and so do the television viewers.

History is Made
This is the first time ever that an NFL game had higher ratings than a World Series game.  Get used to it.  Baseball has been on a steady decline in the ratings with no end in sight while football continues to dominate the ratings.  Not even the World Series can beat the NFL and we are talking about a regular season NFL game.  The numbers had the Sunday night game on NBC between the Steelers and Saints getting an 11.8 overnight rating and 18 shares while the World Series got a 10.4 and a16 shares.

Stupid Scheduling by Selig
The idiotic decisions made by baseball commissioner Bud Selig continue.  It does not take a genius to know that football is more popular than baseball, especially the NFL.  Baseball could have been intelligent about their scheduling and gotten far better ratings.  Football is the king on Saturday, Sunday and Mondays at the sports book and with the public.  Did baseball take that into account?  No.  They scheduled Games 3, 4 and 5 to go up against the football on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. How stupid can you be?  The World Series schedule is set in advance so baseball could have done things differently.  It is probably unavoidable to avoid all three of those days but they should have had just the Saturday game.  Give the teams two days off and don’t go up against the NFL on Sunday and Monday.  The schedule in baseball is stupid anyway so at least get some ratings out of it.  Schedule the games for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Then people at the sportsbook would actually watch the baseball since they would have no other choice.  When faced with a choice between the World Series and the NFL, baseball will lose more times than not.
