The loss snapped a 13 game winning streak for the Mavericks. Sportsbook fans that bet on this game where surprised to see the Knicks playing with some revenge on Saturday night since the Mavericks had routed them by 50 points back in January. The Knicks turned the tables on Saturday and pounded the Mavericks 128-94 as Bill Walker scored a career-high 23 points while Wilson Chandler added 22 points. “Revenge is sweet sometimes. That’s a really good team over there but we caught them at the right time. They were ripe for the picking,” said New York’s Al Harrington. The Knicks had lost 14 of their 17 games at Dallas and nine in a row. “They remembered [the blowout in New York],” said Dallas forward Shawn Marion, “They even said something to me about it before the game. They said they were going to give us a spanking.”
Dallas had their 13-game winning streak come to an end but they didn’t seem too concerned. “You especially don’t want it to come to an end like this, but at the same time it was a great run,” Marion said. “Now it’s time to start another one. I think we’ve just got to learn from it. It seemed like everything we did out there wouldn’t go right tonight.”
Even though the winning streak for Dallas looks good in theory, a closer look reveals it was not quite as impressive. Eight of the thirteen games were played at home. And even though they won, the Mavericks are still a very poor team at home vs. the NBA point spread. Many of the teams they beat during the winning streak were not very good. In fact, the combined record of the 13 teams they beat is 383-468. That is a concern in terms of sportsbook results. If the Mavericks are to be a team that can win the Western Conference they will need to win games at home and on the road. The loss against the Knicks indicates that Dallas still has work to do if they want to be a top team vs. the online sportsbook NBA line.
