Sportsbook Handicappers Notice Key UCLA Signings

Sportsbook Handicappers Notice Key UCLA Signings. The UCLA Bruins made news at the sportsbook as they signed two highly touted recruits on Tuesday. David and Travis Wear signed with UCLA just three weeks after transferring from North Carolina.  The addition of the two twins should make the Bruins a more serious threat vs. the odds at the offshore sportsbook in the coming years.

Sportsbook odds already have the Bruins as contenders in the Pac-10 and two years from now, with the addition of the Wear brothers they should be even better. UCLA head coach Ben Howland was thrilled to get the two 6-foot-10 forwards.  The twins live in Huntington Beach, California so they are happy to be close to home.

They chose North Carolina instead of UCLA coming out of high school but now they have transferred out. Travis averaged 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, while Davis contributed 2.9 points and 1.7 re-bounds a game for North Carolina.  Since they transferred, both players will have to sit out next season but they still will have plenty of time to make an impact at UCLA.

This past season was not a good one for UCLA in college hoops. It is rare for a Ben Howland coached team to struggle but the Bruins did last year. They were 14-18 straight up and 13-16 vs. the odds at the offshore sportsbook. Don’t look for the struggles to continue at UCLA.  Howland is an excellent coach and he will get the Bruins turned around quickly.  Getting the Wear brothers should make UCLA even better. They won’t get to play next season but the Bruins are really looking at being a national title contender down the road so the two brothers should help them in that regard. They will get a chance to practice this season with the team and in two years they should be ready to make a serious impact.

UCLA was led last season by Michael Roll who averaged 14.1 points per game.  He also led the team in assists at 3.6 per game.  It was not a banner year for the Bruins as they had lost a lot of talent from the previous year. Look for UCLA to be much improved this season and keep and eye on UCLA two years from now when the Wear brothers get a chance to play and impact college hoops.
