Sportsbook Gamblers Notice Rodriguez Suspension

Sportsbook Gamblers Notice Rodriguez Suspension. Gamblers at the sportsbook took notice of the New York Mets suspending closer Francisco Rodriguez. The Mets suspended Rodriguez after he was arrested on Wednesday night for an altercation with his girlfriend’s father.  The Mets didn’t miss him on Thursday as they routed Colorado in sportsbook online baseball action but they could miss him if he is out for any length of time.

Sportsbook odds are not normally affected by the absence of just one player.  The results for gamblers can sure be affected though.  Rodriguez is having a good season for New York has he has 25 saves an a 2.24 ERA.  Rodriguez got into trouble on Wednesday after he reportedly attacked his girlfriend’s father outside a lounge at Citi Field in New York.  He was arrested and charged with third-degree assault.

The Mets put him on the restricted list for two days.  The Mets will now have to decide what to do with Rodriguez for the rest of the season.  The organization is not at all happy about what occurred and they could decide to suspend Rodriguez for more than just a couple of days.  They will likely have to consult with the MLB player’s union and the commissioner’s office to see what options they have.

Rodriguez was ordered by a judge to stay away from his girlfriend who is the mother of their 1-year-old twins and her father.  Rodriguez will be back in court on September 14th.  The Mets are just barely hanging on in the Wild Card race as sportsbook online numbers indicate.  They will now have to decide what to do with Rodriguez until his court date next month.   The incident is not the first time that Rodriguez has had issues.

He has had previous run-ins with a team official and a coach in his time with the Mets. The Mets are paying Rodriguez a ton of money and they have gotten mixed returns.  Rodriguez has been a solid closer but he has been a problem on and off the field.  He got into it with bullpen coach Randy Niemann earlier this season and last year he argued with Mets official Tony Bernazard who was later fired.  Rodriguez also got into it last season with New York Yankees reliever Brian Bruney.
