Sportsbook Fans Notice another Boston Injury

Sportsbook Fans Notice another Boston Injury.  The Boston Red Sox are right in the thick of the American League East race but how long can they continue to win vs. sportsbook baseball odds with their injuries. They lost another player to injury as All-Star pitcher Clay Buchholz was placed on the DL. He joins a laundry list of players that are hurt for the Red Sox but somehow they are finding ways to win vs. the odds at the sports book.

Sportsbook odds could start to fall on Boston as the injuries pile up. They recalled left-hander Felix Doubront to start Tuesday’s game in place of Buchholz. Doubront pitched once last season for Boston and went five innings against the Dodgers, allowing five runs (three earned) in a 10-6 Boston win. He is 3-2 with a 2.36 ERA in six starts for Triple-A Pawtucket.  Buchholz should be able to come back after the All-Star game. He is 10-4 with a 2.45 ERA in 15 starts this season.

Boston’s injury list is starting to resemble an All-Star team. In addition to Buchholz, also on the disabled list are Dustin Pedroia, Victor Martinez, Josh Beckett, Jason Varitek, Manny Delcarmen, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jeremy Hermida and Mike Lowell.

Even with all of the injuries, the Red Sox have stayed in the playoff picture in the American League. Before Monday’s game against Tampa Bay they were 49-33 overall including 29-17 at home.  They even had a winning record on the road vs. the sports book baseball odds. They boast the top offense in the league in runs scored at 5.46 per game.  They are second in the league in home runs and fourth in batting average. Their pitching is just 20th in the league but they have been able to count on a win every fifth day when Jon Lester goes to the mound and they have gotten enough runs to win more often than not in sportsbook odds when the other starters are on the mound.

This will be a key week for Boston to survive their injury troubles vs. the baseball sportsbook lines. They have games against Tampa Bay and Toronto that are on the road. If they can just play .500 this week they would get the All-Star break and a chance to get some of their starters back from injury.
