Sportsbook – Cowboys Go the Extra Mile and Sign Austin to $54 Million Dollar Extension

The Dallas Cowboys made news at the sportsbook on Thursday as they signed Pro Bowl wide receiver Miles Austin to a big contract extension. The Cowboys are one of the sportsbook online Super Bowl favorites and Austin is one of their best players.  Dallas is a -180 favorite to win the NFC East this season at Sbg global.

The Cowboys signed Austin to a six-year contract extension.  The contract includes $18 million in guaranteed money and the total value of the deal is $54 million. Austin is making just over $3 million this season so his total contract value goes up to $57 million.

Romo to Austin: The Cowboys really like their quarterback-receiver combination of Tony Romo to Miles Austin. They wanted to make sure that duo stayed together.  Austin came into his own last season as he had 10 catches for a team-record 250 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Kansas City in overtime. He had six catches for 171 yards and two more TDs in his next game.  He finished with 81 catches for 1,320 yards. Those numbers were the sixth-best in team history.  The Cowboys already have Romo signed to a long-term deal so they have their top two offensive players under contract for a long time to come.

Receivers are Getting Paid – Austin is not the first big name wide receiver to get millions of dollars recently.  The Dolphins gave Brandon Marshall a huge amount of money while Houston signed their great receiver Andre Johnson to a big deal.  Two other high profile receivers, the Colts Reggie Wayne and Philadelphia’s DeSean Jackson are looking for new deals.

Cowboys Favored on Sunday Night – The Cowboys open their 2010 regular season at Washington and they are favored on the road in sportsbook odds. The Cowboys didn’t do much in the preseason but they are expected to have a potent offense this season led by the quarterback-wide receiver duo of Romo and Austin.  The game between Dallas and Washington will be televised by NBC which means it will get added sportsbook online attention.  It will also be the first game for new Washington quarterback Donovan McNabb so that adds to the intrigue on Sunday night.
