Sportsbook Site – Brewers Look to Roenicke to Right Ship

Sportsbook Site – Brewers Look to Roenicke to Right Ship.  The Milwaukee Brewers were a bust this season against the baseball odds at the sportsbook site but things might be looking up for the Brewers as they hired a new manager.

The Brewers hired Ron Roenicke as their new manager on Tuesday.  He had been a bench coach for the Los Angeles Angels under Mike Scioscia since 2006. The Brewers needed a change so perhaps they will be worth betting next season at the offshore Sportsbook.

Hope for Milwaukee
Roenicke has never been a full-time manager but he has filled in for Scioscia at times.  Learning under Scioscia is a huge plus.  Keep in mind that Bud Black was the pitching coach under Scioscia with the Angels and look what he did with the San Diego Padres.  Joe Maddon was also with the Angels and he left and has done wonders in Tampa Bay. There may be some hope for Milwaukee with Roenicke.

Brewers were 77-85
Last season the Brewers went 77-85. That was only good for third place in the National League Central.  Much more was expected out of Milwaukee and the third place finish cost manager Ken Macha his job.  The Brewers big problem this year was their home record. How can a team go just 40-41 at home against the odds at the sportsbook site?  Even a rotten team can have a winning record at home.  The Brewers were not half bad on the road as they went 37-44 against the odds at the offshore sportsbook. The team has some talent with players like Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun. Fielder led the team with 32 home runs this season while Braun hit .304.

The pitching is not great but they do have Yovani Gallardo who was solid. It just seemed that far too often this season the Brewers just didn’t do the little things to win games against the baseball odds at SBG.  They had the 11th ranked offense in baseball at 4.63 runs per game but they were 5th in home runs.  The pitching was definitely a problem as they were just 26th in the league in ERA.  They did not get enough quality starts this season and that really left their bullpen in bad shape.  Roenicke will have to address the starting rotation first and then get some pieces to build around Fielder and Braun. And he will have to get this team to win their home games.
