Sportsbook Bettors Note New Deal for NFL’s Best Receiver

Sportsbook Bettors Note New Deal for NFL’s Best Receiver.  The NFL’s best receiver got a new deal on Thursday and sportsbook bettors took notice. Houston’s Andre Johnson signed a new contract that will keep him with the team through the 2016 season.  Johnson is a great receiver who can single-handedly impact sportsbook online results.

Sportsbook odds list Houston as a contender in the AFC South this season although the Texans still have to get past the Indianapolis Colts.  Getting Johnson signed and sealed is a big help though.  He had five years left on a deal worth $60 million but he had said he wanted a new deal. Reports have it that Johnson got a two-year, $23.5 million extension with $13 million guaranteed. With incentives, the deal could be worth $38.5 million.

Johnson has led the league in receiving yards the past two seasons and there is not much debate anymore that he is the top receiver in the league.  He has gone over the 100 catch mark in three of the past four seasons.  He has |the best receiving yards average or any receiver in the league since 2006.

Houston was 9-7 last season and 7-7-2 against the sportsbook online point spread.  Houston failed to make the playoffs again but it sure was not the fault of Johnson.  He had 1,569 yards receiving last season. The Texans have a very potent combination in quarterback Matt Schaub and Johnson.  The two combined on nine TDs last season.  Houston had the top ranked passing offense in the league last season and Johnson was a big reason why. He is a physical receiver who simply can’t be stopped.  His size and speed have made him the top receiver in the league.

It is rare in the NFL for a receiver to be a major impact player. There are only a handful of players that can make that claim. Johnson tops the list along with Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald.  Randy Moss used to be in that category but his best years are behind him. The player that opposing defenses now fear at the wide receiver position is Johnson.  He will now be with the Texans for a long time to come and will most likely end his career with the team and could be the Texans first Hall of Fame inductee.
