Sportsbook – A San Diego Specialty

Sportsbook frustration continues to mount for the poorly coached, mismanaged, and underachieving San Diego Chargers after their 1-2 start to the season.

Here They Blow Again
San Diego is coming off a 27-20 loss at Seattle against a rebuilding Seahawks team that was a 3.5 point home dog.  As has been the case throughout the season special teams did the Chargers in as Seattle’s Leon Washington ran back kickoffs of 101 and 99 yards for touchdowns.  The 99-yarder broke a 20-20 tie with less than 7 minutes remaining in the game and was the clincher.  San Diego fell to a record of 1-2 both straight up and against the spread.  In their opening game 21-14 loss at Kansas City on Monday Night football the difference maker was a 94 yard touchdown punt return by Dexter McCluster, which was a Kansas City record.

Ego over Logic
San Diego general manager AJ Smith has continued to lose esteem in the eyes of handicappers at Sbg global.com with his tyrannical ways that began after a 14-2 season in 2006 and ended with the firing of head coach Marty Schottenheimer.  Smith has clashed with numerous players over contracts and the Chargers have a lack of depth on the roster that has played a major role in their drop in effectiveness of special teams.

A Fraud of a Coach
Norv Turner is just not a credible head coach.  He has a losing career record and has been fired at two previous stops at Washington and Oakland.  Turner has presided over slow September starts in all 4 of his seasons on the job and San Diego lacks the fundamental polish that they had with Schottenheimer.  On the positive Turner makes for a nice weak puppet that appeals to Smith’s comfort zone, despite the continual internet sportsbook setbacks

Rivers Wasting
San Diego has an elite quarterback with Philip Rivers and his talents are going to waste.  Rivers is a franchise All Pro quarterback that can take a team all the way to the Super Bowl but his career and big numbers are being damaged by Smith and Turner, who do not surround him with the material or tactics needed for consistent sportsbook success.

Chiefs Take Advantage
Kansas City is 3-0 and 2 games ahead of the Chargers in the AFC West.  As has been the case in San Diego under Turner the Chargers will spend the rest of the season digging out.
