Sports Book Cubs Replace Closer Kevin Gregg

Sports book notes tell us that the Chicago Cubs have finally made a change to their closer’s role as Kevin Gregg was replaced by Carlos Marmol. This move was long overdue as Internet sportsbook stats indicate since Gregg was continually blowing saves. Sports book numbers on the Cubs have them favored a lot of the time.  Unfortunately for sports betting gamblers, the Cubs have been a disappointment. Manager Lou Pinella has simply not gotten the job done. It took him forever to replace Gregg as the closer and now it might be too late.  The Cubs are falling out of the playoff race as Internet sportsbook stats indicate. They are well back of the Cardinals in the National League Central and they also trail in the Wild Card race

Gregg blew three of this last five save chances as sports book statistics show.  Gregg has allowed 12 home runs in 56 1-3 innings and that is the most in the league by a reliever as sports book stats indicate. “We needed to try a different approach,” Piniella said. “We have been patient, if you want to use that word. But we’ve lost some tough, tough ball games.”  The Cubs are definitely in serious trouble. They can’t even beat the Padres on a regular basis and they are one of the worst teams in the league. “What we need to do is win some baseball games,” Piniella said. “We haven’t done it in a long, long time.”

Gregg had 23 saves but blew six saves as Internet sportsbook numbers tell us and that was simply unacceptable for the Cubs. “I’ve had my chances and I didn’t produce enough,” Gregg said. “Now I will just try and help the team win.” Marmol has four saves this season as the setup man. “I am just going to go out there and give it my best,” said Marmol.

Sports book info tells us that the Cubs will still use Gregg in a setup role. “He understood,” Piniella said about Gregg, “This wasn’t something that cropped up overnight. He’s had some success, but lately, he’s been struggling.”

Chicago is 15-1 in online betting odds at the sports book to win the World Series.  Those sports betting odds at the sports book really should be a lot higher considering the Cubs are not even in a playoff spot but sports betting gamblers at the Internet sportsbook still love the Cubs.
