PGA Cancelled Viking Classic Sportsbooks

Sportsbooks had a very rare thing happen this past weekend as all golf bets on the Viking Classic were refunded. The PGA cancelled the tournament because of heavy rains.  The tournament will not be made up so the next event on the offshore sportsbook board will be the Children’s Miracle Network Classic.

Sportsbooks are not used to having an event cancelled.  In fact, this is the first time a tournament has been cancelled because of the weather since 1996 when the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am was cancelled. Sportsbooks info had the Viking Classic at the Annandale Golf Club receiving almost two inches of rain Friday and Saturday. “I told them this was closer to a FEMA disaster site than a golf course,” tournament director Randy Watkins said. “Somebody asked if you could play somewhere else. I don’t think you could play golf within 150 miles of here.”

The PGA was trying everything to get the tournament to be played, even shortening it to 54 holes.  The hope was that the event could still be played and offshore sportsbook odds would have been up but the area was just too soaked.  The Viking Classic was an important sportsbooks event for golfers trying to make the Top 125 on the money list and get their card. Now players will have only one more chance to earn money. Offshore sportsbook info has Rich Beem as one of those players right on the bubble. He is at #124 on the money list and now is faced with a huge event at the end of the season. “I would be lying to you saying it wasn’t nerve wracking to a point,” Beem said. “The only thing I can control is how well I play. If I could go home with this week, with a week off now, get practice time in and get ready for Disney, that’s all I can control. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to go out to Disney and play well and see if we can’t wrap this thing up.”

Sportsbooks will have golf odds on the offshore sportsbook board for the Children’s Miracle Network Classic next week as golfers play the final event of the 2009 season. It should be an exciting sportsbooks event since golfers will be jockeying for position on the money list.  The offshore sportsbook will have odds on golfers to win the overall event and matchups that are always exciting at sportsbooks.
