Overrated Pitchers Hurting Baseball Sportsbook Bettors

Pitchers Hurting Baseball Sportsbook Bettors. As you bet baseball at the sportsbook the first thing you probably do is look at the starting pitchers. Some pitchers are probably your favorites while others are hurting your Internet sportsbook bankroll. Who are some of the big bankroll burners so far this season?

The biggest money burner this season is a big time shock. Last year’s American League Cy Young winner Zack Grienke has been killing bettors.   The Royals are 2-8 in Grienke’s starts.  Early in the season Grienke was pitching well and not having much luck but lately he simply hasn’t been very good.  What should help Grienke is that Kansas City is playing better since Ned Yost took over as manager. The second biggest loser has been Chicago’s Ryan Dempster. He looked good last time out though so perhaps he can start to make amends for his terrible start. The Cubs are also playing better of late and that may help Dempster as well.

Milwaukee’s David Bush and Houston’s Felipe Paulino have been really bad so far this season. The Brewers are 1-8 in Bush’s starts while the Astros are 1-8 in Paulino’s starts.  Neither the Brewers nor the Astros are very good so you may want to avoid both of those pitchers. Pittsburgh’s Charlie Morton was also in that mix as the Pirates were 1-8 in his starts.  Colorado’s Greg Smith was not doing well either as the Rockies were 1-7 in this starts.  Chicago’s Tom Gorzelanny was struggling as the Cubs were 2-6 in his starts. A hard luck pitcher has been Atlanta’s Kenshin Kawakami. He doesn’t have a great ERA but he still shouldn’t be winless.  The Mets Oliver Perez is another starter you may not want to have money on.

There are a couple of other big names on the list you don’t want to bet on.  Boston’s John Lackey is almost always favored but he has been terrible of late.  The Red Sox are just 4-5 in his nine starts. Colorado’s Aaron Cook is another starter who should be better than he has been.  He is 1-3 with a 5.40 ERA in nine starts.  Cook and Lackey are both capable of turning things around but for now you may want to avoid both of them with your baseball wagers.
