NHL Trading Deadline Passes Sportsbook

NHL Trading Deadline Passes Sportsbook. Sportsbook had the NHL trading deadline passing on Wednesday with very few impact deals. The Washington Capitals lead the Eastern Conference and they probably made the biggest news as they picked up Scott Walker from the Carolina Hurricanes.  There were really not any huge deals though that will impact odds at the Internet sportsbook.

Sportsbook has seen the Capitals do very well this season. They gave up just a seventh-round pick to get Walker so they are risking nothing. He has had an injury-plagued season but he is a 15-year NHL veteran.  The Capitals also picked up center Eric Belanger from Minnesota for a second-round draft pick as Internet sportsbook stats indicated.  He could be a very important player for the Capitals vs. the Internet sportsbook lines. He has 13 goals and 22 assists in 35 games.  He is also excellent on faceoffs, ranking 7th in the league as sportsbook NHL numbers have it.  Washington also got defenseman Joe Corvo from Carolina for defenseman Brian Pothier, prospect Oskar Osala and a second-round pick. Carolina is going nowhere this season so they were sellers on deadline day.  The Hurricanes are not likely to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference especially since their goaltender Cam Ward is hurt.

Carolina traded defenseman Aaron Ward to Anaheim for a conditional fourth-round pick and goaltender Justin Pogge.  The Hurricanes will put Pogge to use as starter Cam Ward is out with an injury.

Another team that is having a good year vs. the Internet sportsbook odds is the Phoenix Coyotes. They picked up Wojtek Wolski from Colorado for forwards Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter. Woski has 17 goals and 30 assists this season as sportsbook stats indicated.   Mueller has been a bust this season as he has only four goals and 13 assists. Last sportsbook NHL season he had 22 goals and 33 assists. Phoenix also bolstered their blueline as they picked up Derek Morris from Boston for a conditional 2011 draft pick.  They also got defenseman Mathieu Schneider from Vancouver for defenseman Sean Zimmerman and a conditional pick as Internet sportsbook info indicated.  Schneider could provide valuable experience on the blueline as he has appeared in 1,281 career games for nine NHL teams. He has played in 111 playoff games which could be important since Phoenix is a likely playoff team from the Western Conference this sportsbook NHL season.
