NFL’s Longest Losing Sportbook Streak is Over

NFL’s Longest Losing Sportbook Streak is Over. Sportbook had the Detroit Lions ending the NFL’s longest losing streak on Sunday as they defeated the Washington Redskins 19-14. The Lions had lost 19 straight games straight up but now that long streak is over. The Lions were a popular NFL betting pick at the offshore sportsbook against a poor Washington Redskins team.

Sportbook facts had the Lions avoiding their 20th straight loss as rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford went 21-for-36 with 241 yards and a touchdown. It is the first win of Stafford’s career. Running back Kevin Smith had his third career 100-yard rushing game before leaving the game in the third quarter with a shoulder injury.

Offshore sportsbook stats had Washington’s Santana Moss getting a career-high 10 receptions and a career-high 178 receiving yards while quarterback Jason Campbell threw for 341 yards. Somehow though, the Redskins lost in sportbook action. The Redskins are now just 3-8 in their last 11 sportbook games dating back to 2008. Washington has been a team that online sports betting gamblers have avoided recently at the NFL sportbook.

Stafford threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Bryant Johnson in the first quarter and the Lions added a fourth quarter TD that was set up by a pass interference penalty. Then Lions were also able to hold off Washington’s last minute drive to get the win at the offshore sportsbook.

What is a sportbook irony of sorts is that the Detroit win was seen by only 40,896 fans. Sportbook sites note that it was the smallest crowd at Ford Field and the fewest to watch a Lions home game in 20 years. The game was blacked out in Detroit so sportbook fans didn’t even get to see the Lions win.

It was a sportbook game of frustration for the Redskins. They had countless chances to win the game but simply couldn’t get it done. Offshore sportsbook notes that head coach Jim Zorn could be on his way out soon after losing to the Lions. Washington was unimpressive in their first two games this season even though they did get a win over the St. Louis Rams.

Despite the win against the Redskins, the Lions are big sportbook underdogs in online sports betting this week at Chicago. It could be a few more weeks before the Lions win again since the sportbook schedule has them facing Chicago, Pittsburgh and Green Bay next.
