Memphis 64-Game Conference Winning Streak Ends – Sportsbook

Memphis 64-Game Conference Winning Streak Ends – Sportsbook. Sportsbook saw a huge winning streak come to an end on Wednesday as UTEP defeated 72-67, ending the Tigers 64-game Conference USA winning streak. Memphis needed one more win to break the all-time record which they share with Kentucky but they could not win in sportsbook online action against the Miners.

Sportsbook has favored a lot in recent seasons but this Tigers team is not a national title contender as in previous seasons.  It was still a surprise though since Memphis simply doesn’t lose in Conference USA. “In my four years, we haven’t lost one game,” Memphis’ Henderson-Niles said. “I’m sure they are going to celebrate and all that. They beat us. I would too, if they had won (64) in a row. Who wouldn’t? It hurt bad. It hurt bad losing a conference game like that.”

The Tigers were tied with Kentucky for the longest college basketball conference winning streak at 64 games. Jeremy Williams scored 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead UTEP in the sportsbook upset.  The Tigers had not lost a Conference USA game since 2006 when UAB beat them in sportsbook online action. “Beating a Memphis team that has dominated this league for so long is obviously a big win,” said UTEP coach Tony Barbee.

While the sportsbook win is impressive, it should be noted that no longer has head coach John Calipari who is now at Kentucky. This is simply not the same powerhouse Memphis team in sportsbook online without Calipari.  Elliot Williams led the Tigers with 23 points in the sportsbook loss.  committed five turnovers down the stretch and that simply didn’t happen in previous seasons under Calipari. Memphis is coached by Josh Pastner who took over when Calipari left for Kentucky. “It was a tough loss, and the guys took this hard,” Pastner said. “But you have to give all the credit to UTEP. They are good.”

UTEP will try and build upon this huge sportsbook online victory. “We can’t take this win and take two steps back,” the Barbee said, “We’ve got to keep taking steps forward.”   UTEP is 12-5 this season so they can be competitive in the conference.  With the sportsbook loss, Memphis falls to 13-5. The Tigers have been horrible against the sportsbook odds this season going 3-10. They have lost their last nine games that had college basketball pointspreads.
