Mayweather-Pacquiao Bout is Off Sportsbook Betting

Mayweather-Pacquiao Bout is Off Sportsbook Betting. Sportsbook betting would have been extremely popular on the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao but it looks like that bout will not happen. Pacquiao’s promoters said the fight was off after the two sides could not agree on drug testing.  The fight would have been huge for sportsbooks but for now, the bout will have to wait.

Sportsbook betting has seen boxing fall off the map in recent years with the UFC dominating instead.  The Mayweather-Pacquiao bout would have put boxing back on the map at least for one fight.  The fight was supposed to happen on March 13th in Las Vegas but differences could not be worked out.
“I knew this was going to happen,” said Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum. The big issue was the drug testing.  Supposedly all of the other details had been worked out but the problem was that Mayweather wanted random blood testing and unlimited urine testing. The Pacquiao camp would not agree to those requests.

The fight would have brought in millions to both sides, and Arum was very unhappy and made his feelings known. “I’ve been saying this for years: He’s (Mayweather) a psychological coward who doesn’t want to fight anybody who has a chance of beating him,” Arum said. “He walked away from a rematch with Oscar that would have paid him a fortune because De La Hoya held him close in the first fight.”

Sportsbook betting numbers had Pacquiao and Mayweather looking to make huge money from the bout. Reports had each making more than $25 million for the bout.  Sportsbook betting stats have Pacquiao at 50-3-2 in his career with 38 knockouts. Sportsbooks numbers have Mayweather at 40-0 in his career with 25 knockouts.  While Mayweather is unbeaten in sportsbook betting, many who wager at sportsbooks consider Pacquiao the best fighter in the world.

Boxing really could have used this big fight to get back onto the sportsbook betting scene. While Arum has said that the fight is off, it has been shown in boxing in the past that anything can happen.  There are millions of reasons for this fight to get done, so although it looks bleak now, there is still a chance it could happen down the road in sportsbook betting. In the meantime, Pacquiao could be fighting Yuri Foreman in March and he would be heavily favored at sportsbooks to win that bout.
