Mariners Sign Figgins Sports Books

Sports books could have the Seattle Mariners with some interesting odds next baseball season. The Mariners are looking to make a number of moves that will improve their odds at the Internet sportsbook and the first one is already in. had the Mariners signing Los Angeles Angels third baseman Chone Figgins to a $36 million dollar, four-year contract.

Sports books indicate the Mariners have Figgins locked up for the next four years and possibly five years since there is an option for 2014. Figgins is coming off a great season where he impacted results. He led the American League with 101 walks as Internet sportsbook stats showed and he had a career-high on-base percentage of .395. He was an All-Star game sub as sports books info showed when Evan Longoria got injured and had to pull out.

Sports books stats show that Figgins hit 298 with five home runs and 54 RBIs last season for the Angels. Internet sportsbook statistics show that he stole 42 bases and scored 114 runs as the Angels won their division again. Figgins could be at third base for the Mariners as sports books stats show if Seattle loses Adrian Beltre to free agency or he could be moved to second base. “It would probably be second,” Figgins said. “Me and Jack (Zduriencik) kind of talked, so it would probably be second. I’ve moved around pretty much my whole career except last year, but even then I played a couple of games at second base. So, I think those guys know that I’m pretty much prepared for anything.”

Sports books will see Figgins batting second next year in Seattle’s lineup behind Ichiro Suzuki. “I was just personally thinking that Ichiro is obviously one of the best leadoff hitters in the game,” he said. “He’s able to do what he’s doing in the one-spot, so I figure with me plugged into the two-spot, being a little more patient at the plate, it makes an even more dangerous tandem at the one-two spot.” Seattle manager Don Wakamatsu has not made any decisions but there is little doubt at sports books that Figgins will hit second.

Seattle was 85-77 last year in odds among sports books. The Mariners could be improved this sports books season and even more of a threat at the Internet sportsbook with Figgins in the lineup.
