Louisiana Tech Hires Sonny Dykes Sports Book

Louisiana Tech Hires Sonny Dykes Sports Book.  Sports book facts had Louisiana Tech wasting little time in finding a head coach as they hired Sonny Dykes. He replaces Derek Dooley who left to become the head coach at Tennessee.  Louisiana Tech was a high scoring team under Dooley and they figure to be just as explosive vs. the sportsbook odds with Dykes at the helm.

Sports book had Dykes spending the past three seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Arizona.  He is the son of former Texas Tech coach Spike Dykes.  While at Arizona, Sonny Dykes directed a spread offense and he will bring that style to Louisiana Tech.  He really changed Arizona’s offense as the team set single-season records for passing yards, passing yards per game, completions, touchdown passes and completion percentage. Sports book numbers indicated that quarterback Willie Tuitama set single-game records and other career marks for yards, yards per game, completions and touchdowns.

Louisiana Tech was 4-8 this past season but they did go 8-4 against the spread at the sports book. The Bulldogs play in the Western Athletic Conference and in that conference you have to be able to score.  Dykes should vastly improve their offense. Ranking 64th in the country in total yards doesn’t sound that bad at the sportsbook but in the WAC that is not going to get it done.  They were 92nd in passing yards per game so that figure should go up substantially with Dykes at the helm.  Louisiana Tech had Ross Jenkins at quarterback and he did not have a good year, barely throwing for over 2,000 yards this sports book season.

Things can turn around quickly vs. sportsbook odds in the WAC.  Look what happened at Idaho this year as the team actually made a bowl game. If Dykes can get Louisiana Tech’s offense in gear it is possible the Bulldogs could start to make some progress. They won’t reach the level of Boise State but they are definitely capable of making an impact in odds at the sports book.

The Bulldogs were not too bad rushing the ball last year as they were 29th in the league as sportsbook stats showed. They were 46th in the country in points scored last season.  If they can get a passing attack they could really take a step up next season vs. the sports book numbers.
