Ingram Wins Heisman in Closest Vote Ever Sportsbook

Ingram Wins Heisman in Closest Vote Ever Sportsbook.  Sportsbook odds favored Mark Ingram to win the Heisman Trophy and Ingram did win the award in the closest voting in history. Ingram finished 28 points ahead of Stanford running back Toby Gerhart who was the second choice in offshore sportsbook odds.

Sportsbook results had Ingram winning, Gerhart second, Colt McCoy third, Ndamukong Suh fourth and Tim Tebow 5th. “I’m a little overwhelmed right now,” he said, “I’m just so excited to bring Alabama their first Heisman winner.” He got a total of 227 first-place votes and 1,304 points as sportsbook numbers show while Gerhart got 222 first-place votes and 1,276 points. McCoy was not far back in sportsbook numbers with 203 first-place votes and 1,145 points as offshore sportsbook results indicated.

The result was not unexpected at the sportsbook but the margin may have been. It was the closest vote ever as offshore sportsbook stats showed. The previous closest vote in Heisman was when Bo Jackson won in 1985 when he beat out Chuck Long by 45 points.

Sportsbook statistics now have three straight sophomores winning the award. Ingram rushed for a school-record 1,542 yards. He averaged 6.2 yards per carry and had 18 TDs on the sportsbook season. Ingram may have clinched the award in Alabama’s sportsbook win over Florida in the SEC title game. In that win, Ingram had 113 yards and three TDs. Alabama will now match up in sportsbook odds against Texas in the BCS title game on January 7th. Alabama is a just over a field goal favorite at the offshore sportsbook in that game. “This is a great, special moment for me but at the same time you’ve got to move forward,” Ingram said. “We still have a national championship game to play in.”

This is the sixth time in the last seven sportsbook seasons that the Heisman winner will play in the BCS title game. The win for Ingram gave Alabama its first Heisman winner. “The legacy of Alabama football certainly had a void filled,” head coach Nick Saban said. It ended a long drought for Alabama; no team had ever won more games in major college football without at Heisman winner. “Everybody that’s been in the Alabama family has been supporting me,” Ingram said, “Walking to class students flashed me the Heisman pose.” He was definitely a very happy winner. “I’m sure it’ll be in the trophy cases with all those national championships and all the other awards people have won,” he said.

The last six sportsbook winners of the Heisman have been Ingram, Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, Troy Smith, Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart.
