Great Value on the Atlanta Falcons at the Sportsbook

Great Value on the Atlanta Falcons at the Sportsbook. Winning in NFL futures odds at the sportsbook is all about finding value. Last season the New Orleans Saints were not favored to win the Super Bowl but they produced for those that took them at double-digit odds to start the season.  In 2010 a team that may be one to watch is the Atlanta Falcons as they are 25-1 at the offshore sportsbook to win it all.

Sportsbook odds last season had the Falcons going 9-7 straight up but a very profitable 11-5 against the point spread. The Falcons were still somewhat of a disappointment and it definitely hurt them that the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl. The Falcons believe they can beat the Saints and they will get that chance in 2010.

Falcons Owner Arthur Blank is excited about the prospects of his team this season.  “I think we had a terrific offseason,” he said. “We had a really good free agency (period). We’re excited about having (Dunta Robinson) here. He looks like a rookie the way he’s running around and providing the speed, youth, experience and leadership we expected.”  The Falcons have the nucleus to do some good things in 2010. “I’m excited about where we are as an organization.” Blank said.

The Falcons do have some issues to address. They were 13th in total points scored and 15th in total points allowed last season. Those are just mediocre numbers and not good enough to get a team to the Super Bowl.  They did not really have an identity on offense last season as they were 14th in passing and 15th in rushing.  They need a more productive offense if they are to challenge New Orleans for the top spot in the NFC South.

The defense was also nondescript last season. They were pretty solid against the run, ranking 10th in the league. Their pass defense was weak though, ranking 28th in the league. That number has to improve if the Falcons are to contain a team like the Saints.

The Falcons are going to find out where they stand very quickly vs. the odds at the offshore sportsbook in 2010. They open up the regular season at Pittsburgh and then they face Arizona, New Orleans and San Francisco the next three weeks.  If the Falcons want to be serious contenders they need to at least split those first four games or go 3-1.
