Furyk the Favorite at the Sportsbook for Greenbrier Classic

Jim Furyk is the favorite at the sportsbook to win this week’s PGA Tour event. The PGA has a new event this year called the Greenbrier Classic. It doesn’t have a big name field although there will be some recognizable names on the sports book odds board including Furyk.

Sportsbook odds list Furyk as the 10.5 to 1 favorite.  Matt Kuchar is the second choice in the betting odds at 16.5 to 1.  The Golf Channel will be providing all of the television coverage of this event. Normally with a new course, many of the top names prefer to skip the event but there are some big names in the field this week.  Furyk is the favorite and he is joined by other big names like Ricky Barnes, Ben Curtis, Sergio Garcia, J.B. Holmes, Trevor Immelman, Justin Leonard, Davis Love III, Kenny Perry, David Toms, Nick Watney, and John Daly.  Not to be left out of the big names are Brendon De Jonge, Chris DiMarco, Steve Flesch, Brandt Snedeker and Boo Weekley.

Furyk has the best world ranking of all of the players in the field and he is favored but he is not playing that well. He didn’t even make the cut at St. Andrews. A more deserving favorite might be Matt Kuchar.  He has four to 10 finishes in five starts.  He is number one in the PGA all-around rankings.  Another player to watch is Nick Watney.  He is third in greens in regulation and eighth in ball striking.  He is the third choice in golf odds at the sportsbook at 18.5 to 1. Ben Crane and Jeff Overton are next at 23.5 to 1.  Overton tied for 11th at the British Open.

Ricky Barnes, Sergio Garcia, Charley Hoffman, J.B Holmes and Trevor Immelman are all 26.5 to 1 at the sportsbook. Hoffman is eight in the all-around rankings and is playing well. He finished tied for 7th at the John Deere and tied for 4th at the RDC Canadian Open.  Brendon De Jonge and Matt Jones are playing well lately and they are each listed with odds of 33.5 to 1. David Toms has some appealing odds this week as he is 43.5 to 1 at the sports book.
