European Teams Thrive vs. World Cup Sportsbook Odds

European Teams Thrive vs. World Cup Sportsbook Odds.  Remember all that talk about South American teams dominating European teams in World Cup sportsbook odds? Forget about it.  While only six of thirteen European teams made it out of the Group stage, three of those teams made the semifinals.  It is very likely that a European team will end up winning vs. the World Cup online sportsbook odds when the final is over.

Sportsbook odds favor the Netherlands in their semifinal matchup against Uruguay while the match between Spain and Germany is a pick.  There has been at least one European team in the World Cup final in every year since 1934 and there will be at least one this year and possibly two.  If the Netherlands beats Uruguay as expected, the World Cup final will have two European teams.

Before the World Cup began, Spain and Brazil were the two favorites at the online sportsbook to win the title.  Spain is still alive but Brazil is out.  The team that is now considered on par with Spain is Germany.  They routed Argentina 4-0 in the quarterfinals and a lot of people are now jumping on the Germany bandwagon.  While Germany has looked very good, they now have to get past Spain to make the final. Whichever team wins with give Europe a team in the championship match.

European teams struggled in the group stage but some of the struggles were not a huge surprise as Italy and France were both overrated.  It should be noted that Germany, the Netherlands and Spain all won their groups.  Germany is in the semifinals for the third straight World Cup.  Germany has been an offensive powerhouse in the World Cup as they have scored four goals three times in their five games.  There were many teams that didn’t score four goals in the entire tournament. Germany has been led by Miroslav Klose who has 14 career World Cup goals. Klose is not the leading scorer in the tournament though as Spain’s David Villa has five for top honors.  Not to be forgotten among the European teams is the Netherlands who is the only remaining unbeaten team in the World Cup. They are now unbeaten overall in their last 24 matches and they are favored on Tuesday to defeat Uruguay and make the final.
