Derek Jeter Ties Gehrig Sports Book

Sports book details had Derek Jeter matching Lou Gerhig’s record for hits with his 2,721st on Wednesday against Tampa Bay. “You try to enjoy this,” Jeter said, “Now I wish we were playing [Thursday].”  Jeter is likely to break the record on Friday as New York hosts the Baltimore Orioles in an online sports betting game they will be heavily favored in at the Internet sportsbook.

Sports book history will have Jeter in a very special spot.  He should surpass Gehrig on Friday as sports book notes, since the Yankees are playing the Baltimore Orioles who have no real pitching and are not much of a threat in sports book odds.  The moment should be a great one for Jeter. “I’ve had a tough time in my career enjoying things as they happen, because I’m always trying to look to the next game,” Jeter said.   The Orioles are throwing Chris Tillman to the mound on Friday against the Yankees in sports book odds.

In the unlikely event that Jeter doesn’t break the record on Friday in online betting he would face left-hander Brian Matusz on Saturday in another game the Yankees would be heavily favored in at the Internet sportsbook.  Jeter is batting.417 against lefties this season as sports book stats show. “He’s tied now, so there’s only one hit to worry about, and hopefully he’ll get that Friday in his first at-bat and put it all behind him,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said,

The Yankees have had a special season in sports book baseball betting. They are favored in nearly every game at the sports book but going against them is tough since they are on pace to win more than 100 games this season.  They are running away with the American League East as sports book stats have it and Jeter has been a big part of it.  Sports book history had Jeter coming into the league in 1995 and getting two singles in his second game for his first two hits in the league.  He had 10 more that year and another 2,711 over the next 14 sports book seasons. “He’s going to be the only Yankee to ever hit 3,000 hits,” catcher Jorge Posada said. “That tells you right there what kind of player [he is].”

It is somewhat amazing as sports book stats show that no Yankee player has ever made it to 3,000 hits.  If Jeter stays healthy he would have a shot at the 3,000 mark in 2011 as Internet sportsbook stats show.  New York is the favorite to win this year’s World Series in Internet sportsbook odds.
