Buehrle Gets Opening Day Nod for White Sox

Sportsbook will have Mark Buehrle on the odds board on April 5th as the Chicago White Sox open their regular season against the Cleveland Indians. Chicago wasted no time in naming their starter for opening day.  Online sportsbook has this as the eighth time that Buehrle will have been the opening day starter for Chicago.

Sportsbook will favor the White Sox and Buehrle as they open at home against the Cleveland Indians.  The only other option for the White Sox would have been Jake Peavy but manager Ozzie Guillen tapped Buerhle as the starter.  “I think Mark feels very, very good,” Guillen said. “I think he earned that spot.”  There was no argument from Peavy who was all in favor of Buehrle getting the opening day start. “I think he is deserving. It’s his staff,” Peavy said. “He has been the face of this franchise for such a long time.”

It was an interesting season for Buehrle in terms of odds at the sportsbook.  He threw a perfect game against Tampa Bay in late July but only won two starts the rest of the online sportsbook baseball season. He was 13-10 with a 3.84 ERA as sportsbook stats indicated.  “I hope he doesn’t throw another no-hitter,” Guillen said, “Please don’t. We were in first place when that happened.”  Not much went right for Chicago after that game as they fell out of first place, finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs.

Chicago is an interesting team this year in sportsbook odds.  Chicago is listed at 24-1 to win the World Series at the sportsbook. Chicago plays in the American League Central and that is a very winnable division.  Anytime a team can make the playoffs they have a chance to win the World Series and it is not out of the question for Chicago to contend. Getting Peavy into the rotation behind Buehrle is huge.

Chicago was an official disappointment last sportsbook baseball season.  They finished 79-83 and that was a big loser vs. the online sportsbook odds since Chicago was favored more than half the time. Chicago was 7th in the league in ERA last season and 19th on offense. They will need to improve those offensive numbers if they expect to win the division and contend on a regular basis against the baseball odds at the online sportsbook.
