Browns Hit by Flu Sport Books

Sport books may have to closely monitor the NFL betting line on the Cleveland Browns this week. The Browns are sports betting underdogs at the Internet sportsbook against the Green Bay Packers and the line could rise since Cleveland players are battling the flu.

Sport books have raised the line on the game to Green Bay -7.  That NFL betting number at sport books could go higher if things don’t get better for the Browns.  Internet sportsbook info had twelve players including Pro Bowl nose tackle Shaun Rogers, missing practice on Wednesday with flulike symptoms. The team is scaling things back and doing all they can. “We’re being really aggressive preventatively,” head coach Eric Mangini said. “If there’s any sign of it and we think it’s heading that way, we’d much rather try to minimize the effects on the player and also possibly the exposure to the rest of the group.”

The list of players with the flu is a large one that includes six starters who can impact the results at sport books.  Internet sportsbook info indicates that in addition to Rogers, the other players that are sick include running back Jerome Harrison, center Alex Mack, safety Brodney Pool, cornerback Anthony Madison, wide receiver Chansi Stuckey, defensive end Brian Schaefering, linebacker Jason Trusnik, fullback Lawrence Vickers, linebacker Kamerion Wimbley and defensive end Corey Williams.

Cleveland is hoping that they have these players available for Sunday’s sport books game.  The NFL does allow a team to move players from the practice squad to the active roster in emergency situations but the Browns are hoping to avoid that situation.  The Browns covered the sports betting spread at the sport books last week in the loss to the Steelers.  Wimbley was out last sport books week with his sickness while Rogers was sick during the game.

Cleveland has been terrible this season in many respects but at least they covered the Internet sportsbook number last week.  The flu doesn’t help them though but they are not overly concerned yet. “Today, no. Sunday, yes,” linebacker David Bowens said. “It’s a cause of concern, especially when guys have to be here to get the installation, get what we’re supposed to do this week. It kind of sucks, really, because guys are missing a lot of information because they’re out.”  The Browns are a touchdown underdog on Sunday as they host the Green Bay Packers.
