Brandon Roy Out of the All-Star Game

Brandon Roy Out of the All-Star Game due to injury. Sportsbook odds might still have the West favored in the All-Star game on February 14th at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas but the West will not have Portland guard Brandon Roy on the team.

He is going to miss the next three online sportsbook games with a right hamstring injury. Sportsbook had Roy getting hurt on January 13th against Milwaukee and he made the injury worse on January 20th at Philadelphia.Roy has missed 12 of the last 13 games, including Saturday night’s online sportsbook loss against the Los Angeles Lakers. “I don’t feel like I’m at a level where I can help the guys out right now,” Roy said. Roy would have been playing in his third straight All-Star game.

“This was not a decision that any of us wanted to make, but in the end we had to do what was best for Brandon,” Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard said, “We’re hopeful that this extended rest will put Brandon in the best possible position to return to the lineup shortly after the All-Star break.”  Sportsbook stats have Roy leading Portland this season at 23.1 points per game. “I think it’s going to be the smart thing just to stay off it for a little while,” Roy said.

Portland has been a team of walking wounded this season. They have already lost centers Greg Oden and Joe Przybilla to season-ending injuries. They just recently got Rudy Fernandez and Nicolas Batum back from injuries.

Portland has been surviving without Roy but they are starting to slip as was evidenced by Saturday’s sportsbook loss to the Lakers at home.  They are hoping to get Roy back after the All-Star break. “This will give him a chance to rest it, rehab it and not have to worry about coming back in the next day or two,” Blazers head coach Nate McMillan said.

Portland is 30-23 this season and 28-24-1 against the odds at the sportsbook. Portland is a disappointing 13-14-1 at home vs. the line at the online sportsbook while they are 15-10 on the road.  Sportsbook has the Blazers as no lock to make the playoffs since the Western Conference is so competitive this season. The Blazers are 4th in the league on defense as sportsbook stats show but their offense continues to be erratic as they are 22nd in the league as the statistics at the online sportsbook indicate.
