Brady Quinn Traded to Denver

Sportsbook action on the Denver Broncos should be interesting to watch this season as the team got quarterback Brady Quinn from Cleveland. Whether or not Quinn gets the starting quarterback job in Denver is in question but it should make Denver fun to watch in the preseason in sportsbook results.

Sportsbook information indicated that the Broncos got Brady Quinn from Cleveland in exchange for fullback Peyton Hillis, a 2011 sixth-round draft pick and a conditional pick in 2012.  It was a small price to pay for a player that could be their starting quarterback.  Head coach Josh McDaniels has not said whether or not Quinn will get a chance to compete for the starting job with Kyle Orton but early indications are that he will. Orton was not upset at all by the move.  He told the Denver Post he was happy the team got Quinn. “We’ve made a lot great moves this offseason and this is another one,” Orton said, “He’s a great player and I’ll be happy to work with him.”

Orton does expect to be the starter though.  He said he talked to McDaniels about the starting job. “I will keep [the conversation with McDaniels] private but I do have total confidence that I’m the guy there,” said, “Just like every year I’m going in to try and earn my starting job. I don’t think I have anything to fret.”

Quinn was expendable in Cleveland since the Browns picked up Jake Delhomme as the starter and Seneca Wallace as the backup. Quinn was very excited about the trade. “Obviously there are things that are out of my control. It’s a great opportunity for me to play under a great coach [McDaniels],” Quinn said to a local Cleveland paper, “It will be a fresh start for me and great opportunity with a very talented team and it should be a lot of fun.”  Quinn didn’t win much for the Browns as he was 3-9 in 12 starts with the team. Quinn completed only 53 percent of his passes last season as sportsbook statistics indicated for 1,339 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. His QB rating was 67.3.

Denver cut quarterback Chris Simms so Quinn will have the backup job if he is not able to beat out Orton for the starting position.  The Broncos should be interesting to follow at the sportsbook next season.
