Another Move by the Heat should help them vs. Sportsbook Odds

Sportsbook Odds News: Another Move by the Heat should help them . The chances of the Miami Heat winning next year vs. sportsbook NBA odds increased on Monday as power forward Udonis Haslem agreed to stay with the team for a lot less money than he could have gotten elsewhere.

While LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh will get all of the publicity for Miami and do much of the scoring, Haslem will be the player that does the dirty work.  Players like Haslem go under the radar at the sports book but they can make a huge difference.

Sportsbook odds list Miami as the favorite to win next year’s NBA title.  The power trio of James, Wade and Bosh are expected to give Miami a great combination but the Heat still needs complementary players and that is where Haslem comes in.  He is a player who loves to play defense and rebound and the Heat badly needed a player like that.  Haslem turned down a lot of money to return to Miami.  He had big money offers from Denver and Dallas but he came back to Miami for about half as much as he could have gotten by leaving.  Haslem went with loyalty and friendship over money as he has a close relationship with Wade. Sportsbook stats indicated that Haslem has averaged 10 points and 8.1 rebounds in his career.

The Heat is not expected to have any trouble scoring points with James, Wade and Bosh but until they got Haslem to commit they were worried about rebounding.  That worry has been alleviated and now the Heat is just looking for an outside shooter. Late on Monday they were reportedly set to sign Mike Miller and they are also getting interest from Zydrunas Ilgauskas who is a close friend of LeBron James.  A three-point shooting threat would make Miami even more dangerous vs. sports book odds next season.

Miami was hoping to lure Derek Fisher away from the Lakers but that did not happen as Fisher decided to re-sign with the world champions. The Heat will still be looking around for a point guard in the off-season as they look to build around their core three of James, Wade and Bosh.  Sportsbook bettors know that getting Haslem was huge, as now Miami can focus on getting a point guard.
