Minnesota simply has not beaten New York in the playoffs. They get another chance beginning on Wednesday with Game 1 at Target Field. TBS will be televising the game as CC Sabathia gets the start for New York against Minnesota’s Francisco Liriano. The Yankees swept the Twins last year in three straight in the ALDS. The Yankees have now beaten the Twins in all three of their playoff meetings. They beat them in 2003, 2004 and last year. The Yankees had home field advantage in all of those series but that will not be the case this time. The Twins were a great team at home this season but they still have to get over the hump and prove they can win against the Yankees.
Best of Five Series – Normally you might think that a best of five series would favor the Twins since they are the sports betting underdogs but that is really not the case. The Yankees have a big edge with CC Sabathia and he gets the start in Game 1 and would go again in Game 5. The Twins might have the edge in pitching depth but there are not many pitchers in baseball better than Sabathia.
