Tiger May Not Have Favorite’s Role at Sports Betting Companies

Tiger Woods has been favored so much in golf odds at sports betting companies that people can’t remember the last time he wasn’t the top choice in a golf tournament. The days of Woods being an overwhelming favorite in sportsbetting may be coming to an end. Tiger pulled out of the Players Championship this past weekend with a neck injury and his recent golfing form has not been good.

Sports betting companies still list Woods as the favorite to win the second major of the year, the U.S. Open schedule for late June at Pebble Beach. Those odds are going up though as Woods does not look like a dominant golfer. Woods is still ranked #1 in the world but that is based upon what he did last year, not from what he has done this season. Woods had his famous car accident outside his home on November 27th and the subsequent sex scandal revelations. He came back to competitive golf for the Masters but he did not win. He then missed the cut at the Quail Hollow Championship before pulling out of the Players Championship. Woods was never in contention in the Players Championship anyway so pulling out may have been the wise choice for Tiger.

Woods has said that he came back too quickly from his layoff and injured himself before the Masters. Woods has said that the pain is something he can deal with but the spasms are a problem. “It is really frustrating, there’s no doubt, because I know what I’m capable of doing,” Woods said. “I just need to get this thing healed up so that I can start working, start spending the time it takes to get better. I haven’t been able to do that. I’ve only been able to work in spurts.”

Woods still gets respect at sports betting companies because of what he has done in the past. The sportsbetting odds are changing though as Woods looks nothing like the top golfer in the world. Could it be that Tiger is no longer as focused as he once was? Could it be that the injuries are just an excuse for his poor preparation? It remains to be seen but what is definitely clear is that Tiger is no longer an overwhelming favorite to win golf tournaments and it may be sometime before he wins any golf tournament.
