Steelers Sign Randle El

Online sports betting had the Pittsburgh Steelers signing an old friend on Tuesday as wide receiver Antwaan Randle El signed a three-year deal. Offshore sports betting also had the Steelers re-signing safety Ryan Clark to a four-year deal on Tuesday.

Online sports betting news on Pittsburgh has not been positive lately with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in trouble again so perhaps these signings were a way to get something positive going for the Steelers.  Clark was signed to a four-year deal worth about $14 million.  The team also signed free-agent safety Will Allen to a three-year deal on Monday worth about $4.5 million.  Pittsburgh also signed wide receiver Arnaz Battle to a three year deal.

The biggest offshore sports betting news though was Pittsburgh bringing back Randle El.  He was part of the Pittsburgh Super Bowl winning team a few years ago.  Washington released him and Pittsburgh didn’t waste any time in brining him back.  The Steelers paid a lot of get Randle El and he might only be their fourth wide receiver next season.  The first three seem set with Santonio Holmes, Hines Ward and Mike Wallace.  Randle El caught at least 50 passes each of the last three seasons.

Randle El might be a player who can help the Steelers but why they brought in Arnaz Battle is a mystery.  Battle is backup wide receiver at best and he has really done nothing in his career to prove that he is worth millions of dollars.  If Battle just plays on special teams then the Steelers paid a lot of money for a marginal player. They also paid a lot of money for Will Allen but again they seem to be concerned about upgrading their special teams and overpaying players to do it. “That’s what I’m good at, that’s what they saw in me,” Allen said. “I’m a good safety and a good special teams player.”

The Steelers spent a lot of money the past few days on players that are not going to see the field very often.  It could be that Pittsburgh is simply not going to be very good next season, especially if they don’t have starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The situation with him has a long way to go so Pittsburgh may have to make more moves in the future to be competitive in online sports betting and have a chance to win the Super Bowl.
