Sportsbetting on the NL East Winner

Sportsbetting action in the late summer months focuses on just one thing: pennant races. There is nothing out there in the sports betting odds that matters nearly as the division races and the competition to clinch sportsbetting’s most elusive postseason prize: a berth in the MLB playoffs.  Right now there are some very interesting sportsbetting races shaping up but perhaps none better right now than the NL East.

Sportsebetting experts could have hardly predicted this race to be as tight as it right now.  Or for that matter, sports betting experts would have had no idea that a team like the Florida Marlins would be duking it out with the world champion Phillies in the sportsbetting odds in late July.  And who would have guessed that the millionaire Mets would be in fourth place after the sports betting All Star break?

But that’s exactly where we find ourselves as the sports betting odds start heating up and the race for post season begins in earnest.  After 87 games, the Phil’s find themselves in first place in the standings and the sportsbetting odds.  The club is five games up on the second-place Marlins but with a four game series underway that gap could be closed by next week.

Sports betting gurus like the Phillies chances especially if they can pick a quality starter like Roy Halliday.  In fact, if the Phils get Halliday, the pennant race and the sportsbetting odds are there’s.  It would be almost impossible for the Marlins, or any other team in the NL East sportsbetting odds to catch them.

Still, that deal is hardly a given and with the Marlins’ starting pitching on fire and the team looking to acquire a quality closer, the sports betting race is still interesting.  The Braves are also in the mix, just one game behind the Marlins and surprisingly, still looking like contender, despite having no offense.  But pitching wins sportsbetting pennants and the Braves have a very good group this season.

The Mets are currently 7.5 games out in the sportsbetting standing and look like a lost team.  Johan Santana has been superb as always and new closer Francisco Rodriquez has been dominant.  But the rest of the team has played like garbage and that’s why this team is dying in the sportsbetting competition.  But the team has the talent to turn it around and there’s plenty of baseball left to play in the season.  Right now the division is the Phillies to lose.  If they get Halliday, it’s a done deal.  But if any team can challenge the world champ, look for the Marlins to make things interesting.
