Sportsbetting tells us that the Cleveland Cavaliers signed forward Leon Powe to a two-year contract on Wednesday. Powe was last seen with the Boston Celtics and he averaged 7.7 points per game in 70 games with Boston last season as sports betting online stats indicated.

Sportsbetting has the Cleveland Cavaliers as one of the favorites at the online sportsbook to win the 2009-2010 NBA title.  Some teams had shied away from signing Powe because he tore the ACL of his left knee in last year’s playoffs. He had reconstructive surgery in May and should be ready to play for Cleveland and impact sports betting online numbers sometime after the first of the year.  Sportsbetting numbers have Powe getting the league minimum for a third-year veteran player.  Sportsbetting tells us that the Cavaliers will have his option for 2010-2011.

Powe could be a valuable piece for the Cavaliers as they look to win the Eastern Conference and win against the sports betting online odds. He was very helpful to Boston, putting in quality minutes as the Celtics looked to replace the injured Kevin Garnett last season. Powe was only considering top teams in the NBA as sportsbetting info shows.  He chose the Cavaliers over the Lakers, Dallas and Miami. His agent Aaron Goodwin was happy that the Cavaliers called. “A lot of teams will tell a guy, ‘Come see us when you’re healthy,'” Goodwin said. “The Cavs were saying, ‘Come here now and we’ll help you get healthy.'”

Powe spend three years with Boston as a backup and averaged 6.6 points and 4.2 rebounds as sportsbetting statistics tell us. Sportsbetting info tells us that he was a restricted free agent but when Boston didn’t make a qualifying offer he was able to sign with any team. “Were we surprised? No,” Goodwin said about the Celtics not making an offer. “Were we disappointed? Yes.”

Powe is thrilled to have a chance to play with LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal.  He gives the Cavaliers some depth since the team did not re-sign Anderson Varejao. “Leon is a high-quality player and person. His tough, gritty play has already contributed in big playoff games during his young career,” Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry said, “As he continues to work rehabilitating his injury, we would look to hopefully see him return toward the end of the season.”

Cleveland is the 3-1 second choice in sports betting online numbers at the sports book behind the Los Angeles Lakers to win the NBA title next season.
