One of the main reasons the Blue Devils are favored is the return of Singler. He was the MVP in last year’s Final Four. He combines with Smith to give the Blue Devils a potent one-two scoring punch. Singler was the preseason choice as ACC player of the year.
Duke’s Competition Could Be Virginia Tech
Normally when you talk about Duke at the sports betting website you have to mention North Carolina as well. That might be the case again in 2010-2011 but in the preseason ACC poll it is Virginia Tech who is picked for second behind Duke. Virginia Tech returns all five starters from last year’s team. North Carolina was picked for third in the ACC. Harrison Barnes was picked as the preseason rookie of the year. NC State was picked for fourth as they return Tracy Smith. Florida State was picked for fifth in the ACC followed by Maryland, Clemson, Miami, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Virginia and Wake Forest.

North Carolina head coach Roy Williams said there is a big gap this season between Duke and everyone else in the ACC. He also said that he doesn’t believe there is any team in the country as good as Duke is.
