Two Additions to British Open in Online Sports Betting Odds

There have been two changes to the British Open online sports betting odds as David Toms and Anthony Kim have pulled out. That means Davis Love III and Ricky Barnes will now be on the offshore sports betting board for the Open.

Online sports betting odds favor Tiger Woods to win the British Open.  Reputation is everything when it comes to golf odds as based on his recent play there is no way that Woods should even be a contender let alone a favorite.  He has not been in serious contention to win a tournament all year and more often than not he struggles to make the cut.  He is still a big favorite in Open odds though.

Since Woods is playing so poorly, there will be some excellent value in offshore sports betting for the British Open.  One player who just got into the Open last week could be a great choice. Justin Rose won the AT&T National and he is playing as well as anyone. He is getting some action at the sportsbook as his odds have dropped to less than 20-1.   He has some experience in the Open as he will be making his ninth career appearance.

The prize money for this year’s British Open at St. Andrews has increased for the first time in three years with the winner getting $1.3 million. Woods is the favorite to win the British Open but Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood, Padraig Harrington, Ernie Els, Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell and Rose all have odds of less than 20-1.  Other contenders include Paul Casey, Retief Goosen, Ross Fisher, Ian Poulter, Martin Kaymer, Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker.  The British Open can be won by players you might not normally think of so don’t rule out someone like Charl Schwartzel, Robert Karlsson, and Luke Donald or defending champion Stewart Cink.  Even last year’s feel good story Tom Watson could be someone to watch.

The 150th Open Championship will be played July 15th through the 18th at St. Andrews in Scotland.  Keep in mind the early tee times when you get ready to bet the British Open. Also note that this year it will be ESPN providing coverage of all four rounds of the British Open.
