Sports Betting Page – Spurs Clinch #1 Seed in the West

May 30, 2011 Sports Betting

The San Antonio Spurs made news on the sports betting page when they clinched the #1 seed in the Western Conference.

The Spurs had stumbled in recent weeks to let the Los Angeles Lakers back in the race for the #1 seed but the Spurs have recovered and on Wednesday they routed Sacramento vs. the Internet sports betting odds while the Lakers lost to Golden State.

NBA’s Best Record
The Spurs are 60-19 which is the best record in the NBA. They have clinched the top seed in the Western Conference and they may end up with the league’s best record depending upon how they finish and what Chicago does.  Manu Ginobili scored 25 points on Wednesday as the Spurs made a statement in a 124-92 victory over Sacramento. George Hill had a nice game as well scoring 19 points, 12 of which came in the third quarter when the Spurs pulled away. The Spurs held Sacramento to 36% shooting in the third quarter and 40% for the game. The 32-point win was the largest of the season for the Spurs.

Streaky Spurs
San Antonio has won three straight after losing six in a row. They lead the Bulls by two games for the league’s best record.  That would only become relevant if the Spurs and Bulls meet in the NBA Finals.  The Spurs have gone on record saying they would like to keep their winning streak going so they could be worth a bet against the NBA odds at Sbg global on Saturday night as they play the Utah Jazz. San Antonio is a double-digit favorite in that contest.

Last Three Games
The Spurs host Utah on Saturday and then finish up with games at the Lakers and at Phoenix.  San Antonio may win all three. The Jazz have quit for the season while the game against the Lakers won’t mean anything and the Suns are just playing out the string.  San Antonio may have some motivation to finish with the best record in the league and they may want to keep their winning streak going.  San Antonio could end up facing Memphis in the first round of the playoffs. The NBA playoffs matchups will be announced next week on the sports betting page.
