The trade makes sense for Dallas because they get a good player in Chandler and they dump two salaries. Another positive is that Chandler’s salary expires after next season so Dallas would have more cap space to sign a big name free agent.
Charlotte had a much better deal in place with Toronto but head coach Larry Brown didn’t like the deal. He may not like his roster next year either without Chandler on it. The Bobcats were the top defensive team in the NBA last season and there is no question that Chandler was a big reason why.
