Sports betting on South Florida could take a different turn after the team fired head football coach Jim Leavitt. South Florida had been a successful team in online sports betting in recent seasons but that might not be the case anymore without Leavitt.

Sports betting saw South Florida fire Leavitt after allegations that Leavitt grabbed one of his players by the throat, slapped him and then covered it up. South Florida University looked into the incident extensively and released a statement. “Coach Leavitt committed a serious violation of our standards of conduct regarding treatment of students,” university president Judy Genshaft said.

Leavitt has denied the allegations saying they are “absolutely false.” Leavitt said he grabbed the shoulder pads of a player during halftime of a game against Louisville in late November.  The school investigated and came up with a much different version that included a cover up attempt by Leavitt.  Athletic direction Doug Woolard and Genshaft began an investigation last month into the incident.  Sports betting had the player involved being sophomore Joel Miller who was mainly a special teams player.

Sports betting stats show that Leavitt was 95-57 at South Florida. He was in the second sports betting year of a seven-year, $12.6 million contract. “I truly wish there had been another outcome to this situation,” Woolard said. South Florida joined the Big East in 2005 and sports betting had the Bulls playing in a bowl game every sports betting year since that time.  South Florida got up to #2 in the country in 2007 as online sports betting numbers showed before collapsing in sports betting that year. The past two seasons they also started strongly in sports betting before faltering.  The Bulls were 8-5 this sports betting season.  They were 6-6 against the online sports betting odds.

Sports betting indicated that some of the possible replacements for Leavitt include Florida defensive coach Dan McCarney and Michigan offensive coordinator Calvin Magee.  Sports betting had whoever getting the job deciding the fate of the assistant coaches.  Online sports betting had offensive coordinator Mike Canales and others like interim coach Carl Franks possibly on the way out. “We are moving forward as coaches. We are going to try to get our players in here. When the new head coach comes in he’ll have to make decisions on what he would like to do,” Canales said.
