Lewis Hamilton took advantage of a mishap between Red Bull teammates Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel to become the sports betting winner of the Turkish Grand Prix. It was looking like yet another 1-2 finish for the Red Bull teammates but they touched as Vettel was trying to pass on lap 41.  Vettel was knocked out of the race while Webber recovered to finish third vs. the online sports betting odds.

Sports betting odds favored Webber but the spin with his teammate cost him the victory.  He had led all 40 laps up to that point.  He did finish third behind Hamilton and Jenson Button.  The McLaren drivers nearly touched cars at the end as Hamilton passed for the lead. It was the first win of the season for Hamilton and the second 1-2 finish for McLaren this year.  Webber was upset that he did not get the win but he was happy that he saved the car and recovered to finish third.  There was no recovering for Vettel.

The Turkish Grand Prix was set to be all Red Bull’s.  Webber had the pole and was looking to win his third straight race from the pole.  It would have been a second straight 1-2 sports betting finish for Red Bull but Vettel may have been a little bit too aggressive. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner was very upset about the incident.  Horner said the two teammates handed the race to McLaren.

After the race he warned both drivers that no driver is more important than the team. Webber still leads the driver’s standings with 93 points but Button is just five points back with 88 while Hamilton has 84.  Fernando Alonso finished eighth in the race and now has 79 points while Vettel has 78. Michael Schumacher matched his best finish of the season as he finished fourth in the Turkish Grand Prix.  Nico Rosberg was fifth and he was followed in sports betting results by Robert Kubica and Felipe Massa.

The F1 sports betting season is definitely getting more interesting. The McLaren cars have definitely improved in the past few weeks.  Hamilton was competitive in this race even before the Red Bull teammates got together. The next race on the F1 schedule is the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday, June 13th.
