Sport betting saw B.J. Penn defend his lightweight title in UFC 107 as he defeated Diego Sanchez on Saturday. There was not much doubt who the better fighter was in this bout and Penn rewarded those who backed him in online sports betting.
Sport betting had a number of favorites win in UFC 107, led by Sanchez. “I was keeping my mouth shut, but I always wanted to fight Diego Sanchez,” said Penn, “I knew he wanted to fight me, even though he didn’t say it. I knew for years he wanted to fight me.” Penn completely dominated the online sports betting fight and it was stopped in the 5th round. Sanchez showed a lot of heart but in the end he was no match for Penn in this sports betting fight. “B.J.’s a great champion,” Sanchez said. “He came in the best B.J. that ever stepped in the ring. I did my best. He came out on top. I’ll be back.”
In another of the feature sports betting bouts it was Frank Mir defeating Cheick Kongo by submission. Mir hit Kongo with a big left hand and then got him in a guillotine that left Kongo unconscious. “He’s a big, powerful guy,” Mir said. “I didn’t really want to let that choke go and have him ground-and-pounding me. That’s kind of a position I don’t really enjoy anymore, so I figured I’d put him to sleep like I said I would at the weigh-ins.” The submission occurred in the first round so it was not much of a sports betting contest.
Another of the main event bouts had Jon Fitch winning as a big sports betting favorite over Mike Pierce. It was not an easy sports betting win for Fitch though as Pierce battled hard. Fitch was ahead on all of the scorecards but didn’t back down and he nearly got caught in the end. Kenny Florian was the sports betting winner against Clay Guida in their main event fight. It didn’t take long for Florian as he won in sports betting with a second round submission against Guida. Florian simply pummeled Guida and then got him in a rear-naked choke hold that ended the sports betting bout.
The other main even sports betting bout had Stefan Struve winning by decision over Paul Buentello. It was a very close decision but Struve was the online sports betting winner.
