Patriots Trade Seymour to Oakland – Sports Betting

Sports betting on the New England Patriots probably won’t suffer much of a hit but the team did trade one of their top players over the weekend. Defensive lineman Richard Seymour was traded to the Oakland Raiders for a first-round draft pick in 2011.  Online sports betting numbers on the Raiders might not improve either, especially if Seymour doesn’t report.

Sports betting has Seymour in the final year of his contract and New England has always been shrewd about moving players before they get too old.  Seymour turns 30 next month and although he is still a very good defensive lineman, his best days are behind him.  The Raiders gave up a probable Top 10 pick in the 2011 draft which is not surprising to sports betting experts, considering the Raiders rarely make good decisions.  Sports betting had the Raiders with a rotten run defense and perhaps Seymour can make a difference.  The Raiders allowed 141.7 yards per game on the ground and 122 touchdowns rushing as sports betting stats indicate.

New England opens up the sports betting regular season as they host the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.  The Raiders are a nine-point online sports betting underdog that same night against the San Diego Chargers.

Seymour has had a very good NFL career already as online sports betting indicated.  He was drafted sixth overall by the Patriots in 2001 and played on three Super Bowl winning teams with New England.  He has 39 career sacks as online sports betting statistics have it and has been in the Pro Bowl for five straight years. “From nearly the day he arrived in 2001, Richard Seymour established himself as one of our premier players for nearly a decade,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said, “His presence has been felt as a force on the field, a respected man off it and a multiyear champion.”

The Patriots are making moves that will help them in sports betting for years to come.  The front office knew the defense was getting old and they are making moves.  They traded Mike Vrabel to the Chiefs as sports betting notes, while linebacker Tedy Bruschi and safety Rodney Harrison retired.

Seymour will have to adjust as sports betting shows because he goes from a team that has gone 77-19 the past six seasons to a team that is 24-72 over that same time period. The Raiders have a season sports betting win total at the sportsbook of 5.5. The sports betting win total on the Raiders at the online sportsbook is 11.5.
