Online Sports Betting Odds Could Favor Tiger Next Week

Tiger Woods is expected to be back next week for the Memorial Tournament and he could be the online sports betting favorite. Woods has not played well this year but he continues to be well respected in offshore sports betting golf odds.

Online sports betting odds favor Phil Mickelson this week as the PGA Tour is at Colonial.  Next week it is to the Memorial for Jack Nicklaus’ tournament.  It is a tournament that Woods has simply owned in recent years. He is the defending champion and in 11 starts he has four wins and seven Top 5 finishes.  With the way Tiger has played so far this year he may have a tough time duplicating his success at the Memorial. The last time he played was at the Players Championship and he pulled out of that tournament due to a neck injury.  He has since dismissed his swing coach Hank Haney and there is really no reason to believe Tiger will suddenly find his game at the Memorial.

Last year Woods defeated Jim Furyk by one shot to win his fourth title at the Memorial.  Woods has not shown anywhere nears the form he had last year but he will probably still be favored to win.  In this three starts this year he was tied for fourth at the Masters, missed the cut at the Quail Hollow Championship and then he pulled out of the Players Championship where he had no shot to win.  It seems very unlikely that Woods will be at the top of his game next week.

It oftentimes takes the odds makers and the public a long time to adjust their thinking on a team or on a player.  A team like New England could still be favored in offshore sports betting even after they had lost a few games in a row. A team like Michigan could be getting respect in college football simply because of their history even though their recent play would not indicate success. The same thinking applies to a player like Tiger.  With his recent form there is no way he should be favored to win any golf tournament, yet the odds makers and the public will likely give him that respect again at the Memorial. It will be interesting to see how he responds.
