Olympics might hurt San Jose’s NHL Odds Sports Betting Online

Sports betting online had seen the San Jose Sharks dominate a lot in the NHL this season. With the Olympics just around the corner the question should be asked whether or not the Sharks and other teams will suffer in sports betting results because some of their star players participated in the games .

Sports betting online can be all about winning. While the Olympics sound noble and it is nice to play for your country, the bottom line is that the players are paid to play in the NHL.  And playing the games is not good news in sports betting online for teams that have a lot of players participating.  And guess which team is going to have the most players in the Olympics?  That’s right, the San Jose Sharks. Sports betting online had the Sharks with eight of their players participating in the Olympics next month. Does that mean the Sharks are in trouble in sports betting online action once the Olympics are over?  Sports betting online history indicated they could be.

The NHL started sending players to the games in 1998 and that first year it was the Colorado Avalanche who suffered in sports betting. The Avalanche sent nine of their players to the Olympics. Colorado won the Pacific Division easily but they collapsed in the playoffs, losing in the first round in sports betting online to an inferior Edmonton team.  Edmonton had eight players in the Olympics that season but many of theirs didn’t play as much.

Look what happened in sports betting online action in 2002. The Detroit Red Wings sent 11 players to the Olympics including many of their stars.  The Red Wings won the Stanley Cup that sports betting online season but what might be forgotten is that the Olympics that year were held in North America so there was not much travel. Four years ago when the Olympics were in Italy the travel was brutal.  Detroit and Colorado sent 10 players each while the Rangers sent nine.  Detroit and the Rangers lost in sports betting in the first round. Only Colorado did anything and they still lost in sports betting online in the second round. How will the Sharks be affected in sports betting online?  The good news for San Jose in sports betting is that the Olympics are in Vancouver which means travel is easy.

The bottom line though was stated by St. Louis Blues president John Davidson. “We don’t make a nickel out of the Olympics,” Davidson says. “Unless it’s being geared towards eventual expansion to Europe, a huge TV market, you wonder what good it’s doing for the league.”
