Ohio State has been a very good sports betting team in recent seasons under Tressel. The Buckeyes are 94-21 under Tressel. Tressel makes about $3.5 million per year. “Jim has never once come to me about compensation,” Smith said, “Jim has indicated to me he is satisfied with his salary. He is aware of the financial situation we all face in athletics and I am thankful for his service and loyalty to the goals of the department.” Part of the new deal gives Tressel the option of becoming associate athletic director if he steps down as head coach. Tressel will also get a lot of other perks when he retires including six press box tickets to all home Ohio State football games and two season tickets to all home men’s and women’s basketball games.
Tressel has sure been worth the money for the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes now have ticket prices at $70. The Buckeyes always have huge crowds and Tressel gets his teams to win. The basketball team is also doing well as they are highly ranked and a #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Even with all of their success the Buckeyes don’t always make money but they sure don’t want a coach like Tressel to get away so an extension was a good move.
