Ohio State Favored in Sports Betting

Sports betting favors Ohio State to win the Big 10 this year. Those online sports betting picks go right along with the Big 10 media who also picked Ohio State to win this year. Sports betting lines at the sportsbook have Ohio State as the even money favorite to win the Big 10 followed by Penn State at +125 and Michigan State at 3-1.  That is exactly the order that the Big 10 media predicted on media day.  Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor was selected by the media as the preseason offensive player of the year and Michigan State linebacker Greg Jones was chosen as the preseason defensive player of the year.

Ohio State went 10-3 last season and 7-1 in the conference.  Sports betting stats tell us that the Buckeyes tied Penn State for the top conference record at 7-1.  The Buckeyes return 12 starters this season including Pryor as sports betting numbers indicate.  It was not expected that Pryor would get so much attention from the Big 10 media. “I really was [surprised],” Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel said. “When it was mentioned, I got to thinking there’s a lot of good guys coming back in this league. Daryll Clark and Juice Williams have been around for a long, long time, and you can go down the list of guys in our league.”

Last season Pryor was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year as sports betting info shows. He did lead the league in passing efficiency as sports betting statistics show.  His running skills outdid his passing skills last season as he rushed for 631 yards and six touchdowns as online sports betting numbers displayed.  In the off-season he has really worked on his passing so he could be a dangerous threat passing and rushing this season. “It’s a good reminder, from an individual standpoint, the respect they have for his ability,” Tressel said. “It was a little bit of a surprise, but it’s a neat thing.”

While the Buckeyes are the slight favorites in sports betting odds at the sportsbook to win the Big 10 there are some other teams with a chance.  Penn State’s schedule is a joke and even with an old coach they can win in sports betting this season.  Michigan State has a lot of talent and even Iowa is a contender in sports betting for the Big 10 title. They are listed at 4-1 in online sports betting odds.  Illinois is 5-1 in sports betting odds, Wisconsin is 7-1, Michigan is 8-1; Minnesota and Northwestern are 17-1 in online sports betting while Indiana and Purdue are 35-1 in sports betting lines.
