Online sport betting will be popular on the St. Louis Cardinals again next season with manager Tony La Russa returning.
He will be joined next online sport betting season in the dugout by Mark McGwire who will be the team’s hitting coach. Sportsbetting had La Russa agreeing to a one-year deal with St. Louis.
Online sport betting did not show La Russa coming to an agreement as a big surprise but it was a shock that he brought McGwire with him. Online sport betting indicates that McGwire has never answered questions about his supposed steroid use and it has kept him out of the Hall of Fame. He finished with 583 homers and a .263 career average as online sport betting stats showed. La Russa is a huge fan of McGwire’s and hopes the new position will help McGwire’s image. "I’m a big fan of his," La Russa said. "He’s back in uniform and, hopefully, people will see his greatness. But the No. 1 reason he’s here is to coach our hitters." The question will be how McGwire handles the steroid questions that he is going to hear all the time. "It’s up to Mark how he wants to handle it," La Russa said. "What we want him to do is coach our hitters, and if he does that well, we’re going to be happy."
McGwire has been coaching hitters outside of the public eye for some time including Cardinals slugger Matt Holliday and leadoff man Skip Schumaker. La Russa said he would have returned even without McGwire. "I would be here if Mark wasn’t the coach," La Russa said. "The fact that he’s here adds some more fire to the gut."
Getting La Russa to return is important for the Cardinals in online sport betting since he has led teams to the playoffs eight times. The Cardinals have drawn over three million fans in 11 of his 14 sportsbetting seasons. La Russa brought McGwire in because the team struggled under Hal McRae late in the online sport betting season. The Cardinals hit .133 with runners in scoring position in the sportsbetting postseason.
The Cardinals will also get pitching coach Dave Duncan back as sportsbetting notes. That is no surprise since Duncan has followed La Russa throughout their careers. "Where he coaches, that’s where I want to manage," La Russa said. "He’s that good."
