Sports betting fans have a full plate in the month of May and choosing exactly which online sports betting opportunity to pursue can be a challenge. But one sportsbetting event in the coming month that many online sports betting fans may have not considered is the French Open. And in this year’s French Open the sportsbetting opportunities on the women’s side should be especially intriguing.

Sportsbetting at the French Open –in the ladies bracket- has been dominated by one player over the past three years: Justine Henin. Henin has been unbeatable since 2005 and won the last three sportsbetting titles at Roland Garos. She is currently ranked number one in the world and will be the odds on favorite in the sportsbetting community to win a fourth consecutive title. However, four sports betting titles in a row here would be truly unprecedented and the reason why no one else in the history of sportsbetting has ever done it is because it is extremely difficult.

She will face major roadblocks in her way to a fourth title and many online sportsbetting analysts do not think she can do it. One of her biggest hurdles will simply to arrive at 100%. If she can do this she will still face enormous sports betting competition from the rest of the field. Chief among her competitors will be trio of Russians.

Ana Ivanovic has quietly assumed the number two ranking in the world and has been on fire so far in the 2008 sports betting season. She is followed in the rankings by Svetlana Kusnetsova and Maria Sharapova. Sharapova has seen her rankings slip as she has taken some time off from the sports betting scene trying to get healthy. According to many online sports betting experts Sharapova could be Henin’s biggest threat.

Sharapova just won her first clay tournament of the year and looks be very sharp heading into the event. Another threat to Henin’s sportsbetting chances could be Jelana Jankovich who did very well at the French Open last year and is ranked sixth in the world. And then of course, if Serena Williams is on, there is no other player in sportsbetting that is more talented.
