Last year’s winner of this race was Kasey Kahne and he is listed at 22-1.  If you are looking for Jimmie Johnson among the favorites you won’t find him as his odds are 16-1 this week. To win at Sonoma on the road course you need to be starting near the front.  Kahne won last year after starting fifth.  Stewart started fourth and finished second while Ambrose started third and finished third. Two years ago it was Kyle Busch winning this race while Montoya won in 2007.  Gordon won in 2006 and Stewart won in 2005.

Jeff Gordon has done very well in road courses in his career. In 17 career starts at Sonoma he has 10 top fives and five poles.  He has led the most laps of any driver at the road course.  There have been 21 previous races at Sonoma and the pole sitter has won five times.  Starting in the Top 10 is a must as 16 of the previous 21 winners have started in the Top 10.  It is normally difficult to pass on a road course and drivers have a tough time making up ground if they start too far back in the field.

This is the 16th race in the 36 race NASCAR season.  Kevin Harvick leads the point’s race by 22 over Kyle Busch.  Harvick is 13-1 in offshore sports betting NASCAR odds to win Sunday’s race that can be seen on TNT.  Denny Hamlin, who has dominated NASCAR recently, is 10.5 to 1.  Robby Gordon is 15-1 while Kurt Busch is 18-1.  All of the other drivers have odds of 20-1 or more.  Road course specialist Boris Said is one of those drivers as his odds are 27.5 to 1.
