Paramedics were called but no injuries were reported. “There have been no charges filed against me. I want to thank the San Diego Sheriff’s Department for their professionalism. I will continue to cooperate fully with the Department, and I look forward to clearing my name regarding these false allegations.” Merriman said in a statement. “I want to put this behind me so I can continue to focus on a successful season for the San Diego Chargers.”
Merriman has definitely been a problem for the Chargers off the field even though he has been great on it. He was suspended four games for testing positive for steroids in 2006. The Chargers have become feed up with Merriman’s antics off the field and it is almost a given this will be his last year in San Diego. He will be an unrestricted free agent after this sports betting season. “It’s disappointing to hear about the issue involving Shawne Merriman,” Chargers general manager A.J. Smith said, “We’ll continue to monitor the situation and let the legal process run its course.”
Merriman is a three-time Pro Bowler and considered one of the key players on the Chargers in sports betting.
