Online sport betting had Florida Marlins outfielder Chris Coghlan and Oakland reliever Andrew Bailey winning Rookie of the Year honors on Monday. The voting was fairly close in each league and other higher profile sportsbetting figures finished in back of the winners.

Online sport betting in the American League had Bailey getting a total of 88 votes while Elvis Andrus finished second and Rick Porcello third. The player that impacted the online sport betting odds the most out of those three players was Porcello who turned into a solid starter for the Tigers last season. Others receiving votes were Tampa Bay’s Jeff Niemann, Chicago’s Gordon Beckham and Oakland’s Brett Anderson.

Coghlan was the winner in the National League as online sport betting noted.  J.A. Happ has the bigger name and was the bigger influence in sportsbetting but he finished second in the voting.  Tommy Hanson also impacted online sport betting more than Coghlan but he finished a very distant third. Others receiving votes were Pittsburgh’s Andrew McCutchen, Milwaukee’s Casey McGehee, Chicago’s Randy Wells, Pittsburgh’s Garret Jones, San Diego’s Everth Cabrera, Colorado’s Dexter Fowler, Arizona’s Gerardo Parra and St. Louis’ Colby Rasmus.

The National League voting was interesting as Happ was picked on every one of the 32 ballots but finished second. Compare that to the American League where Bailey was picked on 28 ballots. Coghlan did have some great numbers for Florida though as online sport betting stats showed. He batted 321 with nine homers and 31 doubles in 128 games. He scored 84 runs and drove in 47 for the sportsbetting season. He had the top numbers for rookies in batting average, runs, hits, total bases and on-base percentage.  He is the third Florida player in the last seven years to win the award.  Hanley Ramirez won it in 2006 while Dontrelle Willis won in 2003.

Happ was 12-4 with a 2.93 ERA in 35 games, including 23 starts. He led all National League rookies in innings, strikeouts and complete games as online sport betting showed. Bailey went 6-3 and saved 26 games for the A’s. He led American League rookie pitchers with a 1.84 ERA. He struck out 91 and walked 24 in 83 1/3 innings. He is the third Oakland player in the last six sportsbetting years to win the award as Huston Street won it in 2005 and Bobby Crosby won it in 2004.
